Last night  I went with a few co-workers to  Scott Campbell’s opening of his  first solo presentation in New York City, If You Don’t Belong, Don’t Be Long. Campbell has taken the blue collar grit and lore of tattoo culture and extracted a visual language and wit that are supremely refined and deliberate. The works included a 7 foot tall grim reaper carved out of layers of  money sheets, elaborate carvings in stacks of money, and  glitter sheets dripped with silver paint  forming  figures like the virgin mary.
